WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION WITH ALLISON
BEFORE THE SESSION
My goal is to create customized artwork for you and your family. If you are just looking for a couple of 4x6 prints or only want to post a few photos on social media, I may not be the photographer for you. I don't feel like I have done my job if I don't help you to actually DO something with your images.
Prior to the session we will either meet in person or spend a little time chatting on the phone so I can get a better idea of what you are looking for and how I can help you. We will discuss locations, outfits, specific ideas you might have, and go over some ideas to make your experience a success.
DURING THE SESSION
Most sessions last about 45 minutes to an hour, but I'm more than happy to spend a little extra time or take breaks if needed. With small children we may spend a lot of our time "playing" with some posing mixed in which makes for a great variety of images for the final gallery. I always have some ideas to get natural smiles and interaction (even from the adults!) and will work hard to make it a fun and relaxing experience for everyone.
AFTER THE SESSION
About two weeks after the session we will get together again for your image premiere and ordering consultation. Having the opportunity to share the final images with you is my favorite part of the experience! We will go through all of the images to pick favorites and place your order. There is absolutely no pressure and you only purchase the images you love! I offer beautiful canvas gallery wraps, framed and mounted prints, smaller gift prints and handmade albums. I have a large collection of samples in the studio to give you a better idea of what I offer. Digital images are also available to purchase and are included complimentary with a minimum order. I know that sharing images on social media is often a top request from my clients and so I include a watermarked web-ready file of each image you purchase a print or canvas of.
I often have portrait clients that are not local to the Seward/Lincoln area and while I am happy to travel for sessions, it's not always possible to meet again at my studio after the session. Thanks to technology, we can always conduct the ordering consultation online if needed.
Your final order will be finished approximately four weeks from the date the order is placed. For local clients I am happy to deliver the order to your door. Having the chance to share the final product is one of the best parts of my job!
Portrait session fees start at $100 with the option to purchase canvas gallery wraps, framed and mounted prints, gift prints, albums and digital files. Contact me now for more details and to get started planning your session.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?
Most clients book their session date approximately 4-6 weeks in advance, but I occasionally will have last minute openings so it never hurts to check with me if you want to schedule a date right away. Fall is by far my busiest season and is often booked 6-8 weeks in advance.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
My best advice is to pick something for one person and let that "inspire" the selections for everyone else. The key is not to match but to coordinate. I would recommend picking a color scheme with four or five colors that are related (like pastels, bold rich colors, or various shades of blues and purples). There are so many great options and I'm more than happy to help you with specific ideas. You might also look through my portrait gallery for inspiration. The one rule I do stress is to avoid neon colors. Not only does it put all the focus on the outfit rather than the person, but it can also make skin tones look a little crazy!
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD? OR SOMEONE IS SICK?
Weather conditions can play a big role in the session and I most definitely don't want anyone to be uncomfortable. If it's extremely hot, cold, windy or raining we can always reschedule. Even an overcast day can be less than ideal if you are looking for gorgeous backlit images. I want the best photos possible and if the weather is going to be a big factor in the success of the day I will often recommend moving the session to another date.
In the case of illness or injury, I will always recommend rescheduling. We want everyone to be at their best for the appointment.
CAN WE JUST PURCHASE THE DIGITAL FILES?
Of course. We may have to pinky swear that you won't just let them sit on your hard drive though!
WILL YOU TRAVEL?
Yes, I am more than happy to travel for sessions. While I am based in Seward, a large portion of my sessions are on location in the Lincoln area and I always love the opportunity to shoot in new areas around the state. There are no travel fees for locations in a 40 mile radius of Seward. Beyond that, my travel fee is $.65/mile.
HOW DO I BOOK?
To officially reserve a session date I require a signed contract and payment for the session fee which can be done entirely online. Once it gets a little closer to your appointment we will start to finalize details and come up with a plan for the session. Contact me to reserve your date now!
